Group Chats & Voice Calls
Group Chats
How do I create a group chat?
Tap the "+" icon in the app, select "Group Chat," choose the contacts you want to add, give the group a name, and tap Create. That's all it takes. Your group is ready to use immediately, with the same end-to-end encryption as any private conversation on Rackon.
Can I add people after creating a group?
Yes. Open the group conversation, go to Group Details, tap Add Members, and select the contacts you'd like to include. New members can receive messages going forward, but won't have access to previous messages sent before they joined.
Can I remove people from a group?
Yes. Open the group, go to Group Details, find the person you want to remove, and select Remove from Group. Only group admins have this ability.
What happens when someone is removed from a group?
Once removed, that person will stop receiving any new messages in the group. They won't be able to see anything posted after their removal. However, messages that were sent before they were removed will remain on their device; those can't be deleted remotely.
What happens when I leave a group?
You'll stop receiving new messages from that group immediately. Your past messages will remain on your own device, but you won't have visibility into any conversations that happen after you leave.
Can I rejoin a group after leaving?
Not on your own. You can only rejoin if an existing group member adds you back. There's no self-rejoin option.
Is there a group size limit?
Rackon generally supports 100 or more members in a group on modern devices. The actual limit can vary depending on your device's hardware capability. For most users on current smartphones, this won't be a practical concern.
Are group messages encrypted?
Yes. Every group message is protected with the same AES end-to-end encryption used in private one-on-one chats. Encryption in group chats isn't a downgrade, it's the same standard throughout the app.
Voice & Video Calls
Can I make voice calls on Rackon?
Yes. Rackon supports encrypted voice calls over Wi-Fi or mobile data. Calls are fully protected with the same encryption standard used for messages — no one outside your conversation can listen in. There are no per-minute charges from Rackon; calls run over your internet connection.
Are voice calls recorded?
No. Rackon does not record calls. There are no call logs or recordings stored on Rackon's servers. What happens in your call stays between you and the person you're speaking with.
Do voice calls cost money?
Calls on Rackon are completely free. They use your existing internet connection, Wi-Fi or mobile data — and Rackon doesn't charge anything on top of that. Standard data charges from your mobile carrier may apply if you're not on Wi-Fi.
What internet speed do I need for calls?
A minimum of 1–2 Mbps is sufficient for a stable voice call. A solid 4G, 5G, or Wi-Fi connection will give you the best call quality. On slower connections, call quality may adjust automatically.
Can I make video calls?
Video calls are not available yet. This feature is currently in development and will be introduced in a future update. For now, Rackon supports encrypted voice calls.
When will video calls be available?
There's no confirmed release date at this time. Video calling is being worked on and will be announced when it's ready. You can keep an eye on updates through the app stores or by contacting support.
What quality are voice calls?
On a good connection, call quality is clear and reliable. Rackon's call quality adapts based on your available bandwidth, so you'll generally get the best quality your connection can support. For consistently good calls, a stable Wi-Fi or 4G/5G connection is recommended.
Can I accept a call while in another app?
Yes. You can receive and continue a Rackon call while using other apps on your device. The call runs in the background and won't be interrupted by switching apps.
