Notifications & File Sharing
Notifications
Why am I not getting notifications?
A few things can cause this. Start by checking that notifications are enabled in Rackon's settings and that your device's system-level permissions allow Rackon to send notifications. Also check that the conversation you're expecting messages from isn't muted, and that Do Not Disturb mode isn't active on your device. If everything looks correct and notifications still aren't coming through, try restarting the app or your device.
What's the difference between mute and disable notifications?
Muting applies to a specific conversation: you temporarily silence notifications from that one chat while everything else continues to notify you normally. Disabling notifications turns off all Rackon notifications across every conversation on your device. Use mute for a specific contact or group; use disable if you want complete silence from the app.
Can I show a message preview on the lock screen?
Yes. Go to Settings > Notifications > Preview Content, where you can choose to show the full message, show only the sender's name, or hide all content. If privacy on your lock screen matters to you, showing sender only or hiding content entirely is the more discreet option.
Will my notifications work if I have Do Not Disturb on?
No. When Do Not Disturb is active, Rackon notifications — like all others — will be suppressed. If you want Rackon alerts to come through even during Do Not Disturb, you can add Rackon to your device's priority contacts or allowed apps list within your system settings.
File Sharing
Can I send photos through Rackon?
Yes. You can send photos directly through any conversation on Rackon. Every photo you send is encrypted with AES before it leaves your device, the same way text messages are. Supported formats include JPEG, PNG, and GIF.
Can I send videos?
Yes. Video sharing is supported. Larger video files will naturally take longer to send depending on your connection speed, so Wi-Fi is recommended for bigger files. Videos are encrypted end-to-end just like every other file type on Rackon.
What file types are supported?
Rackon supports a wide range of file formats including images (JPEG, PNG, GIF), videos (MP4, MOV), documents (PDF, Word, Excel), and audio files. Most common file formats you'd use day-to-day are supported.
Is there a file size limit?
There's no hard file size limit built into Rackon. In practice, very large files of a few hundred megabytes are workable, though we recommend using a Wi-Fi connection for anything substantial to avoid slow transfers or mobile data consumption.
Are shared files encrypted?
Yes. Every file shared through Rackon — photos, videos, documents, audio — is encrypted with AES, the same standard that protects your messages. Encryption applies to all content types without exception.
How do I download a file I received?
Tap the file in the conversation and select Download. The file will be saved to your device's local storage, where you can access it through your gallery or file manager.
Can files be recovered if deleted?
No. Once a file is deleted from a Rackon conversation, it's gone permanently. Rackon doesn't keep copies of deleted files on its servers, and there's no recovery mechanism built into the app.
